WALT’S 1985 NA PORSCHE 944

Another day……another niche side job fixing something that no mechanic can figure out. 1985 944, issue solved in 34 minutes ( I timed it….the owner has spent $1300 on 3 mechanics trying to figure out an “ecu issue”).

Easily the nicest Porsche I have seen of this vintage. What’s sad is when owners are at a loss because they are limited to the help they can purchase. This car has been parked for two years! After meeting me at a show, I was drawn to check this car out because of the story behind it. The owner swore that the Muslim boss of his Marine son sabotaged it – luckily it was just self sabotage due to a MAF sensor clip being loose. Back on the road it goes!!!!

SUPRA MKIV FIX

So the Z is done (besides fine tuning it and cleaning it up) and I think this is the start of other topics, other cars, neat stuff I find etc……

I have a friend with a 1995 Supra with some issues.

From what I have been told, it had a head gasket blow, ever since then it has been a problem child. I am going to take the opportunity to use my blog as a reference sheet that other MKIV owners can find and maybe help themselves with.

The car has an intermittent stalling issue. When it is given light throttle at full operating temperature, it stumbles. After doing some research, I found a bunch of MKIV owners with this issue. One big problem is that the car is OBDI. I cant hook up a scanner to the diagnostic port and the ECU will not remember the codes! So, I had to jump it with a wire as instructed here. After crossing TE1 and E1, I get no codes…..so I constantly watch for the CEL to come on. That takes away from enjoying driving the car. Anyways, I have to get to studying, here are some pictures with my poor neglected, ignored car in the background. Hopefully I can find the gremlin in the Supra, I still think it is the MAF sensor, we will see.
