SUNDAY READING

I’ve decided to pull the fenders on the Q45 so I can use the 18X9.5″ wheels that were on the 300ZX. I know I can pretty much figure this out for myself, but here is some reading I have been doing. If you know of any good sites that I can reference, please email them of leave them in the comments so I can check them out!

Vdub guys and BMW guys have this process down, but a quick search doesnt result in what I am looking for. To me, a pulled fender is the pinch weld, pulled straight out and contured as the fender itself. Many Nissan and Subaru sites I have been too have commenters that are of the opinion that ‘pulling” is actually “rolling”. Rolling I have done many times with pipes and bats, I need to pull my fenders out, whether I newspaper pull them of grind them down to the metal to stretch them. Anyways, check out this link for a pretty awesome VW build where the fenders are truly pulled.

Sunday Reading

Most of my friends know that I have love for everything on wheels. I have a real passion for automobiles in their basic form, no a/c, no heat, just the driver and the controls. I have often wondered how awesome it would be to REALLY strip a car down to the bare essentials (i.e. no paint, carpet, or luxury items) and after looking around AGAIN at outlaw 356s (I will have one, I would even sell the Z for one. Sacrilegious – I know) I found probably the most awesome of the awesome. One of the goals I have in life is to save a car from the junkyard, this is made difficult by the fact that you can’t buy cars from yards around here. I think of the cars I have come across that were not even close to the carnage you are about to witness! 59′ Benz, 40 Ford, 68 TR5……list goes on.

I found this one (another KCW project, searching the Sunday Reading archives will present another that they did, which was immaculate) on http://www.crankandpiston.com. A pretty awesome site, they have some cool features. Anyways, check it out – ideas ideas ideas………………………..

This is a 71 page thread, but totally worth the time to read it! Credit goes to KCW board member Rustabus for putting up the funds for what is probably the dopest outlaw 356 I have yet to see……absolutely amazing what KCW does….

Sunday Reading – Alternator Welder

This is pretty awesome. I was researching Tig welders and found this – just so happens that I have everything I need to create this! Coincidentally, I made room the garage for this also!

Heres the link – and some pics below. You can find more info by Googling ” Alternator Tig Welder”

Saturday I was lucky enough to help run Timing and Scoring for the Nelson’s Ledges Longest Day 24 hour race. This year, the race was run by the people at UsedCar Racing. Highlights of the night included a local team rebuilding a late 80’s Civic, a B13 Sentra with an E30 grill, and an Eagle Talon that won the race after having to acquire new wheels and tires from one of the pit crews 2009 Honda Accord. Check out the site, there are some really cool pics!

MY PERSONAL FAVORITE - THE E30 B13......
